Fonts

I'm amazed how many different fonts are starting to show up. Maybe they have always been there and I just didn’t know it. I am in a rut with Times New Roman. I thought I was a really being a rebel when I had my e-mail font changed to Bookman Old Style. The only reason I did it was I liked the name. This font thing is getting a little out of hand.

Today I received an e-mail I could not read. I looked at it, I studied it, I even enlarged it, but I could not make it out. It read something like this 732j #$^%$# n*((&$ % ***. From the header on the e-mail I realized I knew the person and it should have been a legitimate e-mail. So, I called her. She told me she had switched over to using a font called symbol and the easiest way to read it was to copy it, paste it in a word document and switch it to a font of my choice. She also said she thought it would “fun” if everyone used it. I sent her back an e-mail in the symbol font telling her to take me off her mailing list – or, at least that’s what I think I typed. I later found out three other people asked to be removed as well.

Is it just me or is there a lot of people with way too much #$%^& extra time on their hands?

I wrote "What's wrong with this?" in Symbol and tried to copy and paste it here, but Blogger immediately translated it back into this font. See what happens when you try to be wise? *G*

Ralph,
I can't believe this girl wrote a whole e-mail in Symbol and thought that everyone else should take the time to decode it. What a head case! Symbol font allows you to create special characters like "pi" and Greek letters like "Omega" and "Sigma".

Mom, were we this funny when you smoked?

Then there's Prince, who changed his name to a symbol, and then changed it back once he realized he was a moron.

It would be a pain to get e-mail like that. I guess my immediate reaction would be that they were cussing me out!

Yep, way too much time on her hands!

Jamie – Yeah I know. Everything and everyone now has rights. You’re right I am a fontist. At least it better than what Cliff called me.
Anonymous – Thanks
Just a Mom – It comes and goes. But when it’s gone - it’s gone for a long time. Thanks for your comment and I hope you enjoy your morning reading.
Aravis – When I made this post, I tried doing the same thing with the same results.
Jerry – I learned two things from your comment. Symbol font is made up of some Greek letters. Secondly, the word head case. That was not what I was thinking while talking to her on the phone!
Dan – Who or what is prince? Okay I know but I didn’t know he changed his name.
Rachel – It would be a pain. Your first reaction was better than mine. I thought I was going blind.
Cliff – That sounds Italian. Which reminds me, I’ll be making a post or two over the weekend but you want to be sure to check in late Sunday night. I’ll be making a post about Italian food.

i agree that people don't have time to decode fonts. there is no sense in this, just wrote the thing where people can read it. it is not FUN to do what she said, and i would have been annoyed too.

Susie - Thanks for dropping by. Tried to leave a comment on your site three times but kept getting knocked off.

FONTIST, lol
Your email person is being aggrivating!
When I use a different font, I use one that someone else's program would default to a font that is readable for them, without any cut and pasting involved! That's rude to expect you to decode her email!

I like different fonts because I do calligraphy and I like to experiment with different looks, but not if it exasperates someone I'm communicating with. I remember an AIM CHAT friend asking me to use a "normal" color.
Others like different looks. To each his or her own, if it's not rude.

And Marty, ROFL!!!!!!!! Ralph, your response to him, lol.
