Awards
Tuesday night we went to downtown Denver to the Center of Performing Arts. Char was one of twelve teachers in the state nominated for the Technology Teacher of the Year award. It is an award given out by a statewide technology organization. Six hundred and fifty people attended this event.

I was really disappointed when Char did not receive the award. While the teacher that was selected deserved it – so did Char.
After we got home, I realized Char gets many awards. It’s just that most of them go unrecognized. I usually hear about them early in the morning while we are getting ready for work or in the evening standing in the kitchen. I hear of her award when she tells me about the deaf kid who used sign language to tell her she is her favorite teacher. Or, about the parent of the special education kid who cannot believe Char was able to teach their child how to make a Power Point presentation. They are also awarded on numerous occasions when we walk into stores or restaurants and hear those now familiar words, “Mrs. Campbell! Mrs. Campbell!”
These are the true awards. They don’t set on shelves. They are awarded in the classroom and in the lives of our youth.

Most definitely true. But, it's nice to get the limelight, even for 15 minutes of fame for a job well done. You know all those kids she helps everday will remember her years from now and tell people, "That was Mrs. Campbell who helped me learn this stuff."
it sounds like char is a wonderful teacher. you should be proud. although it is nice to get rewarded from students and parents it is nice every now and then for the big wigs to notice how well you are doing and appreciated. i am sorry she didn't get it but like you said sounds like she is definitly loved and appreciated. the world needs more teachers like here. job well done char! thanks for molding and shaping and loving the youth of today!!!

Wow! That was wonderful that Char got nominated for the award. There were only twelve (Then There Were Twelve).
Of course those living awards are real, they are earned by doing one's teaching and other work well and with the proper spirit and love.
Congratulations, Char!
..
She is a winner and you are so right about all the other awards she gets! This is a very sweet post about your wife Ralph! Good for you!!
I suppose a number of the voters also knew you Ralph. I sure hope they didn't hold that against her.
:)
Really neat stuff said for a great person and teacher. You're a lucky man Ralph.!!
Thank you for your kind words, Ralph and everyone else too! It was an honor to get nominated and all that went with that. I am rewarded everyday by the smiles from students and the ah, ha moments are hard to beat! I can't imagine doing anything else--I do have my dream job--most days anyway.

Congratulations to Char for the nomination, but like you, I think those other awards are the most important! :0)
Woo Hoo! That is really exciting. I"m sorry that Char didn't win, but how cool is it to be nominated?
I hope you bow every time you see her.
I would think the greatest awards would be the pride her husband has in what she is doing, and the delighted smiles of her students.
She is truly blessed.
I think that it was great that Char got nominated for the award. I don't think that teacher's get the consideration or the recognition that they deserve on a regular basis. Our local news does an "educator of the month" and does a profile of the teacher selected. That is nice too! So, hats off to "Mrs. Campbell" She deserves it. And a big thank you to her too, she educates and helps shape our children into the adults that they will be some day! Thanks you Char!
From reading all you blogs--and reading a few of your friend's, too--I declare that Char is a hands-down winner. I know she's special to you, her students and all your friends.
Congratulations on the nomination Char!
That is quite an honor.
I can say I know one those top notch teachers!
A nominee for the Technology Teacher of the Year Award!
I am very proud of you!
WTG!!!
